+ How will my donation be used?

We operate entirely off of donations as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization (EIN 82-2121364).

Our average letter bundle costs The Letter Project $35 from start to finish, when you factor in our administrative and staffing costs, and the three technology platforms used to coordinate the letter requests.

Here's a breakdown of our annual budget:

• Technology to facilitate letter writing process & requests
• Supplies (stamps, postcards, envelopes, paper, etc. for Write Nights, national events, and to write letters)
• Nonprofit operating expenses (incorporation and company registration expenses)
• Promotional materials
• Stipend for executive director and any intern(s)

*Extra postage costs are incurred when there are more letters included & when requestors are based outside of the US.

+ How does my gift make an impact?

Your donation goes towards building up the next generation of women. Our letter recipients say they feel uplifted, supported, less alone, and confident after reading their own bundles. Your gift allows us to continue to spread our impact across the globe, recruit and retain more letter writers, and better support those writers in their efforts to encourage and uplift others.

+ How can I maximize my donation?

Many companies have a gift matching program. Be sure to ask your employer! You can also do a peer-to-peer campaign of your own via Facebook or Instagram, donating the proceeds to The Letter Project.

+ I can't donate right now. How else can I support?

• We gratefully accept in-kind donations of items such as stamps, cards, etc. Check out our Amazon Wish List.
• We are a Thrivent Choice Organization for Thrivent members who desire to donate through their program.
• We really appreciate our writers and stakeholders choosing us as a recipient for their Facebook charity fundraisers through their pages (often to celebrate their birthdays or other special days!).
• As a small non-profit, it always helps in big ways to share about what we do with your friends & families!

+ Do I get anything for donating?

We are so glad you asked. We offer all donations of at least $10:

• A handwritten thank you in the mail with our branded sticker.
• We also celebrate our donors in big ways with prizes + special events on Galentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Day of the Girl, Friendsgiving, and Giving Tuesday.
• During busy seasons, we open the letter request portal timeframes for donors only. This means our donors can “skip the lines” and nominate friends & family for letter bundles.
